Does your website need a renovation…or a complete overhaul??
Is your website the 'talk of the town' or just a web ‘presence’ (kind of like the lonely ghost in the attic)?
C43 can critique your site to make sure it is working hard enough for you.
- Does your website have fantastic design? Internet users are busy and fickle. You have 3 seconds to grab their attention. You need eye-catching design. Great graphic design is what makes someone take a second look and stay on your site. Your website design should represent your business and stand out from the competition. It also needs to be well organised. Careful balancing of page length with the number of levels will help avoid too much scrolling.
- Too much or too little content? Is the content written for the web? Is it written for your specific audience? Do you know who they are? What are you offering them? Do the content and the code have the search engine in mind? Is it original?
- Does it have easy navigation? If it’s difficult for users to find important information they will be lost…literally and be off your site in a flash. Speaking of Flash…
- Flash has it’s place but everything in moderation… Go easy on the Flash! It slows your site down and can complicate Search Engine Optimisation.
- Is it interactive? A little bit of fun or something different to engage and involve the user will lead to more visitors.
- Is your site compatible with all browsers? Have you tried Fire Fox, Opera or Safari?
- Is it fast enough? Consider users with slower connections. If there's lots of heavy background images or flash if so it may load slowly (you don’t want to risk visitors losing patience and clicking off to another site.)
Or does your site have one of those fancy intros that take 30 seconds to load? Always have a skip intro button, there’s nothing worse than going back to a site for a 2nd or 3rd look and having to watch the whole intro again. - Is your site updated regularly? Don’t have potential clients calling about a promotion you’re running in June…only to find out it was last June!! Worse still if your contact details or prices are out of date! If you want visitors to return keep your content fresh.
- Does your website have too many ads or pop-ups?

- Hosting will vary depending on:
- the physical size of your site (number of pages and products),
- the traffic that visits your site (the more traffic the more data has to be moved… so with a really busy site we can add some advertising to help offset the site costs… you even make some money) and
- the server side functionality (if the server is doing a lot of work to make your site run smoothly and efficiently ie. shopping carts and lots of dynamic content you’ll invest a little more… and you will keep your visitors happy)
